|---|---|---|---|
| Pickle Barrel Cabin & Camp | 9.8 mi(全场最近!)
| Faultline Farm | 18 mi |
别当 Plan A。
🌐 secure.sonomacountyparks.org 在线订(今晚就能查)公园日用侧=你们的海崖步道
Gerstle 满了退回 Woodside(同价同距,树多天空差)。
| Bodega Dunes(Sonoma Coast SP) | ~65min | ✅

- 🏪 Trinks Cafe(8–15)/ Surf Market(7:30–20)/ Point Arena
📡 Starlink

|---|---|
| Starlink 8h | ~0.5 kWh |
| Camp Mode
🦀 Arena Cove
⛪ Sea Ranch Chapel——
🏞️ Gualala
🎳 Bowling Ball Beach
🐚 潮池观察——Sea Ranch 礁石、Salt Point(Gerstle Cove 是保护区:只看不拿)

🎯 What this week is
A week working from camp on the north coast: New York hours (up at 5 · start at 6 · done by 2 PM), Starlink as the primary link (home-tested ✅), and the whole coast every afternoon and weekend. Sea Ranch Lodge = the WiFi fallback you field-verified in July + the view you love — a deliberate trip 1–2× a week.
5–6
The Mon–Fri rhythm: green = the 5–6 dawn walk. Weekend Aug 8–9 fully free; hatched = sleep.
🌊 A tide story in two acts (the week's key setting)
Lowest tide each day · Arena Cove station (NOAA predictions, checked 7/31) · green = minus tide (foraging window)

🌤️ Weather (NWS forecast, checked 7/31 · Sea Ranch grid)
A rare all-sunny week (this coast usually pours fog in summer) — great news for the Starlink shakedown and for working outside. Nights 53–56°F: bring the duvet, Camp Mode will run. Fog can still roll in; don't leave laundry out overnight.
📸 Places you already scouted in July (right next to this week's base)

🌐 Hipcamp: search "Timber Cove Campground" (Jenner)Firewood on site (cash/Venmo)
⚠️ The one weakness: no cell signal. Pre-position at the Lodge on critical-meeting days; price/availability live in the Hipcamp app.
Ranked by "open sky + close"; details/photos/availability are most accurate in the Hipcamp app — pick open-meadow sites from the photos:
| Camp | From Sea Ranch | Why | Watch for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pickle Barrel Cabin & Camp | 9.8 mi (closest of all!) | Coastal ridge · 10 min to beaches | Openness — judge from photos; showers unlisted |
| Locus Solus | 17 mi | Coastal prairie + showers · 5 min to Point Arena town (cell/library backup) | Only 2 sites — move fast |
| Faultline Farm | 18 mi | Coastal prairie panorama · 2 mi from the beach | Single site; no shower mentioned |
| Oz Farm | 17 mi | Meadows + redwoods + Garcia River · 8 sites | Choose a meadow site (avoid the redwood ones) |
The ceiling for "sky + close + showers" in this area, but cannot be booked online — only makes sense if nothing books: arrive early Sunday (≤11 AM) and try. Not Plan A.
☎️ 707-884-4222 (phone/voicemail only)abcamp.comBeach day-use $3/adult

⚠️ Checking in tomorrow: KOA late cancellations usually forfeit the deposit — decide firmly, then pay. Next week's dawn-minus-tide spots (Bowling Ball / Stornetta / the pier) all sit within 15 minutes — better positioned than a Gualala-area base.
The cove below is gorgeous (divers' favorite), and $32–45 + showers is cheap — plus Gualala Point selling out ≠ Stillwater full (same system, worth one click). But trees = weak sky and cell ≈ 0 — clashes with Starlink-first; ranks behind KOA / Bodega.
The cheapest "sky + showers + online" combo; the cost is re-centering the week south — the Lodge becomes a once-a-week outing. Rock crab off the Doran jetty, whales at Bodega Head — you did both in July.
💰 Saves ~$350 over the week vs Timber Cove; ⚖️ the price = no hot showers. Gerstle full? Fall back to Woodside (same price & distance, more trees, worse sky).
🏛️ Other state parks (all online-bookable, but far from the Lodge)

| Wright's Beach (Sonoma Coast SP) | ~50min | None (campers may use the token showers at Bodega Dunes, 5 mi south) | $35–45 (beachfront +$10) | 27 sites right on the sand, wide-open sky — gorgeous but far; it would re-center the week away from the Lodge |
| Bodega Dunes (Sonoma Coast SP) | ~65min | ✅ token hot showers | $35–45 | 99 sites among cypress groves — far AND treed; wrong fit this week |
| Manchester SP | ~45min | None | $25 | First-rate open-terrace sky, but first-come only — no online booking (open 5/22–9/2) |

| 09:00 | Leave home (100%, ice, water, gear). US-101 north |
| 11:00–11:45 | ⚡ Santa Rosa Supercharger + lunch (charge to 95%+ — no Superchargers on the coast after this) |
| 11:45→14:00 | River Rd → Jenner → Hwy 1 north (the Jenner–Gualala dead zone — set nav before leaving town) |
| 14:00 | 🏕️ Check in, set camp |
| 15:00–17:00 | 📡 Starlink shakedown #1: obstruction scan → placement → speed tests → one real video call (Monday's meeting must not be the first test) |
| 17:00 | 🛒 Surf Market resupply (7:30–20:00) + survey town cell signal (log it in the 💻 tab) |
| 19:30 | 🌇 Bluff sunset walk · lights out 21:30 (5 AM start tomorrow) |
Mon 8/3 · First workday 6–14 workSea Ranch trails
| 5:00 | Up ☕ · 5:45 pre-work connectivity check (speed + latency, logged) |
| 6:00–14:00 | 💻 Cassie works (Starlink primary). Ray on the same clock: watch link quality, and if it drops, walk the ladder in the 💻 tab. Today is validation day — stay close |
| 14:30 | 🥾 Sea Ranch bluff trails: Walk-On Beach → Shell Beach stairs (public access, self-pay parking) |
| 18:00 | 🍳 Cook at camp · review the day's link log, adjust the base plan if needed |
Tue 8/4 6–14 workArena pier crabbing⚡ charge meanwhile
| 14:30→15:10 | 🚗 North to Point Arena (35 min) |
| 15:10–18:00 | 🦀 Drop the hoop net off Arena Cove pier (public pier — no license needed!) + plug the car into the City Hall L2 (451 School St) while you fish. Rock crab is open year-round: 35/person, 4" minimum |
| 18:30 | 🌇 Sunset from the lighthouse bluffs (tower climb any other day) → back to camp |
Wed 8/5 6–14 workLodge date night
| 14:30 | ⛪ Sea Ranch Chapel (the one you missed in July! 40033 Hwy 1, free, the little seashell building) |
| 15:30 | ☕ Lodge fallback drill: connect to the WiFi and work an hour from the lounge — the day it's really needed shouldn't be your first visit |
| 17:30 | 🍽️ Dinner at the Lodge Dining Room (5–9 PM) — week-one treat, overlooking the same water as your July photos |
Thu 8/6 6–14 workriver mouth · easy day
| 14:30 | 🏞️ Gualala river mouth: day-use lawns + sand-spit walk; swim the summer lagoon if it feels right (the Redwood Park river beach works too). Kayak outfitter Adventure Rents appears closed (Yelp 7/2026) — call 707-884-4386 before counting on a paddle |
| 16:30 | 🧺 Laundry (Redwood Park has machines) · resupply · rinse the salt off the car |
| Evening | 📋 Stocktake: data usage (on the 100GB plan you'd be near the line), battery, stay-or-go leanings |
Fri 8/7 6–14 workBowling Ball recon
| 14:30 | 🎳 Schooner Gulch / Bowling Ball Beach recon (30 min): this afternoon's tide is too high to see the bowling balls — but learn the trail and the parking so next week's dawn minus tides are turn-key |
| 16:30 | 🛒 Big weekend shop + foraging-gear check (gloves, buckets, headlamps, water shoes) |
| 21:00 | 😴 Early night — dawn operations begin |
Sat 8/8 · Weekend ① free dayoptional camp move
| Option A | 🛁 Move to Manchester KOA for Saturday night: full hookups + hot tub + wide-open sky (best 📡 test site) + closer to tomorrow's dawn reef |
| Option B | Stay put: long bluff hike / lighthouse tower in the morning, second round of pier crabbing after, campfire night |
| PM | ⚡ If needed, a Santa Rosa Supercharger run (Costco resupply on the way) — see the ⚡ tab's energy ledger |
Sun 8/9 · Weekend ② 🌊 first dawn tidestay-or-go call
| 5:15 | 🌊 First dawn reef walk: 03:12 low of −0.72 → still ≈+0.3 at first light (~5:50) — Bowling Ball's boulders / reef tidepools, looking & photographing (to harvest anything, buy licenses first — 🦀 tab) |
| 9:00 | ☕ Breakfast + week-one retro: Starlink data, spend, how your bodies feel |
| 10:00 | 🤔 Stay-or-go: Mon 8/10 is 04:04 −1.05 and the dawn minus tides run for days = the perfect forage-before-work structure. Extend? Switch camps? Head home and come back? All three are good answers |
🪜 The failover ladder (tape it to the table)
- 📡 Starlink (primary) — a drop ≤30 s: wait it out (satellite handoff). Recurring drops → check the app's obstruction map → move the dish
- 📶 Phone hotspot — Visible (Verizon) with WiFi-calling pre-enabled; weak at camp → drive to the nearest town (KOA → Point Arena 10 min; Bodega → town 3 min; Gualala area → 3–8 min)
- ☎️ Dial-in by phone — save every meeting's dial-in number + PIN locally beforehand; voice needs far less signal than video. This is the lifeline
- ☕ Lodge café / Bar+Lounge — from 8:00; WiFi field-proven in July; Grab & Go till 4 PM
- 🏪 Trinks Cafe (8–15) / Surf Market (7:30–20) / Point Arena library (Tue–Fri 10–18, quiet study booth)
Wednesday's "Lodge drill" exists so the day it matters isn't your first time.
📡 Starlink: unboxed → on duty (all of it Saturday, at home)
| Step | The point |
|---|---|
| ① Pick a plan & activate | Roam Unlimited $165/mo (recommended: full-time work — a week of video calls can eat 40–60 GB) or Roam 100GB $55/mo (unlimited *slow* data past the cap — risky for meetings). Pausable via Standby when home. Prices checked 7/31 |
| ② Power it up at home | Full dry run in the yard: online, firmware update (first boot often wants one — don't leave that for camp), app speed test |
| ③ Power plan | Standard dish averages 50–75 W. Powered site = just plug in. No hookup = car 12V + inverter (≥300 W pure sine is safe). 8 h ≈ 0.4–0.6 kWh ≈ ~1%/h of the Model Y — easily carried |
| ④ Placement at camp | Obstruction-scan ≥2 spots before settling; dish toward open sky; run the cable through a window/door gap, tripwire-proof |
| ⑤ Log nightly | The table below — it's your site-selection database for nomad life, and it's also just fun |

🔋 Office energy ledger (for a no-hookup site)
| Load | Estimate |
|---|---|
| Starlink × 8 h | ~0.5 kWh |
| Two laptops + phones | ~0.4 kWh |
| Camp Mode overnight | 8–12%/night (your July numbers) |
| Total | ≈12–15%/day → arriving at 90%, ~4–5 days pure camping; Tuesday's pier L2 + one Saturday Santa Rosa run covers it all. With a 30A site the car refills nightly and this ledger is moot |
🎯 The week's menu (split by "does it need a tide?")
🕐 No tide needed (any weekday afternoon)
🦀 Arena Cove pier crabbing — public pier, no license, rock crab open year-round (35/person, 4" min), cleaning tables & restrooms on site
🥾 Sea Ranch public bluff trails — Walk-On / Shell / Stengel beach stairs, self-pay parking
⛪ Sea Ranch Chapel — missed it last time
🗼 Point Arena Lighthouse + Stornetta — round two, unhurried this time
🏞️ Gualala river mouth — sand-spit walks, summer lagoon swimming
🌇 Sunset spots: your camp bluff / Gualala Point day-use
🌊 Tide-dependent (weekend · better next week)
🎳 Bowling Ball Beach — the boulder lanes only show at ≤+1; recon Friday, strike at dawn 8/9–8/12
🐚 Tidepooling — Sea Ranch reefs, Salt Point (Gerstle Cove is a reserve: look, take nothing)
🌿 Seaweed foraging (novel!) — nori/kombu-type algae, 10 lb/person/day, license required, sea palm prohibited; snip from low-tide rock, dry at camp for soup stock
🟣 Caspar uni day — save for next week's dawn minus tides (1 h 15 north; your July spot, unlimited hand-take)
🪪 Licenses (2026 nonresident prices, checked 7/31)
| Scenario | What you need | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Pier crabbing (Arena Cove) | No license (public pier) | $0 🎉 |
| Shore harvesting (seaweed / rock crab / hands-on intertidal) | 1-day / 10-day (nonresident) | $21.09 / $64.54 |
| Staying 2+ weeks & harvesting often | Start with the 10-day; long-term nomad life → annual (nonresident $174.14) | as needed |
CDFW online store — buy the day you need it, screenshot + print. Your July 10-day licenses have expired. Same prices for Cassie.
📆 Next-week teaser (if you extend)
Mon 8/10 04:04 −1.05 · Tue 8/11 ~04:50 ≈−1.2 · Wed 8/12 ~05:40 ≈−1.2 (8/11–12 are estimates — re-pull NOAA before relying) — three straight days of "wake up into the golden window": forage at dawn, back by 6 to start work. July couldn't offer this structure; your new schedule rides the tide perfectly.
🚗 Getting there (Sunday)
| Leg | Route | Time |
|---|---|---|
| Santa Clara → Santa Rosa | US-101 N | ~1h50 |
| ⚡ Santa Rosa Supercharger | to 95%+ & lunch (Petaluma = backup, your old station) | 45min |

| Total ~160 mi · lands right at the 2 PM check-in | ~4h15 incl. charge | |
⚡ The week's charging map
| Charger | Where | How to use it |
|---|---|---|
| 🔌 30A site pedestal (if secured) | Anchor Bay powered site / Redwood Park | Car refills nightly; the energy problem vanishes. Bring the TT-30 adapter + Mobile Connector |

| 🟠 Sea Ranch Lodge destination charger | Listed on PlugShare | Call 707-579-9777 first — confirm non-guests may use it. If yes, Wednesday's Lodge day pairs perfectly |
| 🔴 Santa Rosa / Petaluma Superchargers | 101 corridor | Top up on the Saturday resupply run; zero Superchargers on the coast between Petaluma and Fort Bragg (you proved that in July) |
📏 Drive times from base (using Anchor Bay)
| Gualala town (supplies/signal) | 8 min | Sea Ranch Lodge (fallback office) | 18 min |
| Sea Ranch Chapel | 20 min | Bowling Ball Beach | 18 min |
