🎯 Why this week is special
Week 1's tides missed your schedule; Week 2 hits the bullseye: big dawn minus tides run through the work week, with the bottom of the tide landing almost exactly at first light — 40 minutes on the reef before work, back by 6:00, zero PTO spent. Saturday 8/15 the low slides to 7:30 in full daylight = the leisurely harvest day. This is the structure July wanted but the tides refused.
🌊 Tide chart (daily lowest · Arena Cove station · NOAA predictions, fetched 8/1)
Green = usable low (≤+0.5) · blue = too high · ⭐ = catchable before work · civil dawn 5:53→6:00
The low drifts ~45 min later daily: pre-dawn dark early week, colliding with first light mid-week (⭐), sliding into daylight for the weekend, window closed by Monday. Sunrise 6:21→6:27, sunset 20:17→20:08.
📸 Preview (your July shots)

If Week 1's base delivered on Starlink and showers — just extend it online mid-week and be done. The only reasons to move: a change of scenery, or getting closer to this week's tide spots. Below are the "if moving" options.
The closest with-showers camp to every tide venue this week — 20 fewer dawn-drive minutes = 20 more minutes of sleep. A "stay 2, 3rd free" tent promo has existed — confirm at checkout.
Call 707-884-4222 Monday at 14:15 (voicemail works too). Beach-side camping + sand sunsets — the one that got away in Week 1 returns.
You're nearby all Week 1 — drive over Thursday/Friday afternoon and look: how full the meadow runs, what the showers are like, run an obstruction scan. Like it → claim a spot Sunday morning (August Sundays usually have room before noon, but no guarantee — that's its one gamble).
Sold out for Week 1 ≠ sold out for Week 2 — 8/9–16 is checkable online right now. Same weakness: redwood canopy = weak sky. If Week 1 taught you "Starlink survives trees", this one resurrects.
Trees + no signal — ranked last, but cheap/showered/online as the safety floor.
🗺️ The map

Mon 8/10 04:04 −1.056–14 work

Tue 8/11 ⭐ 04:51 −1.21 lowest of the month6–14 work
| 4:45 | Up ☕ → headlamps to Bowling Ball Beach (the boulder lanes show at ≤+1; today is −1.2 = fully out) |

Wed 8/12 ⭐⭐ 05:34 −1.17 low = dawn6–14 work

Fri 8/14 6–14 worktide rest day

| 20:00 | 🌇 Evening-tide walk (19:02 +1.5 — no harvesting, pure sunset) · asleep by 21:00 |
Sat 8/15 ⭐ · Harvest day 07:30 +0.12 full daylight
| 6:00 | 🚗 Drive to Caspar Cove (~55min from KOA; ~1h15 from Gualala) |
| 7:00–9:00 | 🟣 Hand-pick purple urchins (restoration zone, unlimited · license required) + 🌿 seaweed (10 lb/person) — July's spot, minus the checkout-time pressure |
| 10:00 | 🍳 Mendocino village brunch/coffee → Glass Beach or the Navarro redwood tunnel on the way back |
| 17:00 | 🍣 Uni feast at camp (it's never fresher than today) |
Sun 8/16 · Finale 08:05 +0.80decision day
| Morning | ☕ Sleep in · slow breakfast · pack out |
| 10:00 | 🤔 The fork: ① home to rest (it's been two weeks) ② a third week (flat tides — pure work-from-camp + new scenery) ③ move up the coast (Mendocino village area?). Tide-wise the next minus cycle returns ~8/24 — chase it then if you want |
| PM | 🚗 Home to Santa Clara (~3.5–4 h, Santa Rosa Supercharger en route) or on to the next camp |
💻 Work setup (same skeleton as Week 1)
Rhythm unchanged: up at 5 · work 6:00–14:00 · afternoons free. The only new element = dawn sessions: on ⭐ days wake 4:45, hard 5:55 pull-out (set a phone alarm), Cassie online at 6:00 sharp. The failover ladder, link log, and energy ledger all live on the Week 1 page's 💻 tab — not duplicated here.
🎯 The harvest menu (August rules)
| Target | Where | Rules | When |
|---|---|---|---|
| 🟣 Purple urchin (uni) | Caspar Cove restoration zone (the one place with explicit unlimited hand-take) | License · thick gloves · pry bar/spoon/scissors | Sat 8/15, 07:30 low ⭐ |
| 🌿 Seaweed (nori/kombu types) | Low-tide rock (Sea Ranch stair beaches / Stornetta) | License · 10 lb/person/day wet · no sea palm · snip tops, leave holdfasts | ⭐ dawn sessions + Saturday |
| 🦀 Rock crab | Arena Cove pier (hoop net) | No license on the pier · 35/person · 4" min | Any afternoon |
| 🐟 Surfperch / greenling | Pier or rocks | Pier free; shore fishing needs the license | Afternoons |
| 🎳 Boulders + tidepools (look only) | Bowling Ball Beach / Stornetta shelf | Looking & photographing need nothing | ⭐ dawns 8/11–8/12 |

| On the reef | Headlamp → first light · follow the receding waterline · one person on wave-watch · photograph now, identify at camp later |
| 5:55 | ⏰ Hard pull-out (phone alarm) · Cassie online 6:00 · haul into the cooler, process after 14:00 |
🧭 Drive-time matrix (camp candidates × this week's venues, estimates)
| From↓ To→ | Bowling Ball | Arena pier/lighthouse | Caspar (Sat) | Lodge | Gualala town |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Manchester KOA | 15min | 8–10min | 55min | 45min | 25min |

| Gualala Point | 30min | 35min | 1h15 | 12min | 3min |

| Stillwater | 45min | 50min | 1h30 | 25min | 22min |
⭐ The dawn venues favor a northern base (from the KOA circle, Bowling Ball/Stornetta are ≤15 min); from a southern base (Ocean Cove/Stillwater) use the Salt Point outer reefs / Sea Ranch stair beaches instead — never drive 45 dark minutes at 5 AM.
⚡ Charging (Week 1 conclusions carry over)
No Superchargers on the coast; Point Arena City Hall L2 (451 School St) = charge during pier/lighthouse time; top up at Fort Bragg Supercharger on Saturday's Caspar run; big shops at Santa Rosa. A powered site refills the car nightly. 📵 Offline maps + set each day's nav before leaving, as always.
