45°F📶 Tahoma/Tahoe City 15–20min
Bliss/Emerald Bay 大概率满(顺手查)

🅲 老朋友版 · Bodega Bay(Doran / Westside)官网:$35–45+$7

💤 诚实淘汰名单:Manresa(walk-in 车进不去)· Grover Hot Springs(温泉池 8/1 状态:关闭——去的理由没了)· Pinnacles NP / Del Valle / Folsom / Coyote Lake(八月内陆 95–105°F,白天户外办公=烤箱)· Yosemite(抽签+树+满)· Calaveras Big Trees / 半岛红杉群(树=天空差)· Half Moon Bay Francis Beach(全开阔草崖+澡,条件全符合——唯独八月位子比 Santa Cruz 更难抢,当 A 方案的北侧备胎顺手查)· Anthony Chabot(1小时内的城市备胎:桉树岭+澡+东湾兜底,都不理想但永远有位)。

15:00🚗 出发去 New Brighton SB(~50min;或 Sunset SB,看哪个顺眼)。

傍晚🛒 就近补给(A:Capitola/Watsonville 5–15min;B:Tahoe City;C:Bodega镇)· 21:30 睡

B 方案兜底=Tahoma/Tahoe City(15–20min);C=Bodega镇。

  • 🌐 ReserveCalifornia 查 8/2 起 6 晚:New Brighton → Sunset → (HMB Francis) ;B方案顺手查 Sugar Pine Point;C方案查 Doran/Westside(Sonoma县站)

[4] Sugar Pine Point / General Creek:175

[5] Grover Hot Springs:

[6] Doran/Westside:Sonoma 县官网 $35–45+$7、澡$2/5min(7/31–8/1 查)。

山区八月烟况:AirNow.gov + fire.ca.gov 出发晨查。

🧪 Before leavingtest-run today
💻 Work as usual6:00–14:00

🎯 The reframe

No more orbiting Sea Ranch Lodge — just find "open sky + showers + state-park pricing", with Starlink as the primary link (home-tested ✅) and camp-hopping allowed (≤1 h of driving per day). Three directions that genuinely work, plus an honestly-rejected list (inland August runs 95–105°F — you can't sit outside and work; that alone killed Pinnacles/Del Valle/Folsom).

😴 21:30–5:00

💻 6:00–14:00 work (Starlink)
🏖️ 14–19 play
🌇 dinner·sunset

Same rhythm (green = dawn walk; hatched = sleep). Only the place changes.

⭐ My recommendation: Option A, the Monterey Bay beach-hop. 45–60 min from home = you can drive there THIS afternoon, test Starlink, and then decide (your test-run idea only truly works with this one); city cell + cafés everywhere (Cassie's meetings have never been safer); 60–75°F is perfect working weather; RC shows real-time availability tonight. Tahoe (B) and Bodega (C) are the mountain and old-friend variants — pick by what weekend you want.
💵 Price rules: everything is tagged "source + date" and the ReserveCalifornia / booking-page checkout price is the only truth (state-beach baseline: $35–45 + $8.25 res fee tier; aggregator prices ignored). All sites must be drive-in (car parks AT the site) — you sleep in the Y.
🅰️ Recommended · Monterey Bay beach-hop (New Brighton ⇄ Sunset)State-beach tier · RC checkout is truth
🚿 Hot showers 25¢/min (both parks)🌐 Real-time on ReserveCalifornia🏠 45–60 min from home🌡️ 60–75°F — perfect work weather📶 City cell + cafés everywhere
📡 Starlink sky●●●●○ New Brighton = bluff top (outer rows open, inner rows have pines — pick by site photos); Sunset = the Dunes Camp loop is the open one
🚿 Showers●●●●● hot coin-op at both — bring a roll of quarters
💰 Price●●●●● standard state-beach tier (RC checkout is truth) — exactly the "state-park cheap" you asked for
🎫 Availability risk●●○○○ August-popular: weekends tight, Sun–Thu nights often have scattered sites; the two parks back each other up (20 min apart — moving = scenery change, not a real move). One RC search tonight settles it

New Brighton: 111 sites · Capitola village 5 min · beach below the bluffSunset: 90 sites · behind the dunes · quieter❌ Manresa is OUT: walk-in tent sites — the car can't be at the site (you sleep in it)

Play: Capitola's painted houses, West Cliff, the Boardwalk, Natural Bridges tidepools, Monterey/Carmel weekend (17-Mile). The next dawn minus-tide cycle (8/8–8/12) rolls straight into Week 2 — this coast has tidepools and pismo clams too (license needed).

🅱️ Mountain-lake · Lake Tahoe west shore (Sugar Pine Point)State-park tier · RC checkout is truth
🚿 Coin showers (6 restroom buildings)🌐 Real-time on RC🏠 ~3h45 from home🌡️ 75–82°F days · 45°F nights📶 Tahoma/Tahoe City 15–20 min
📡 Starlink sky●●●○○ General Creek's 175 sites sit in sparse conifer — tall-but-sparse pines are usually fine for Starlink; pick outer-loop/clearing sites; the lake beach and meadow are in the park
🎫 Availability risk●●●○○ "often full on summer weekends" = Sun–Thu is the window; D.L. Bliss/Emerald Bay likely full (check anyway)

⚠️ Two honest flags: ① at 3h45, go and stay gone; ② August mountains = smoke watch — check AirNow/fire.ca.gov the morning you leave; smoke = switch to A instantly. Play: Rubicon Trail, lake swims, Emerald Bay, paddleboard rentals.

🅲 Old friend · Bodega Bay (Doran / Westside)Official: $35–45 + $7
🚿 Coin showers $2🌐 Sonoma County system, online🏠 ~1h50 from home🌡️ 58–70°F, windy📶 Bodega Bay town next door
📡 Starlink sky●●●●○ Doran sandspit / Westside harbor flat — near-zero trees

July territory: Spud Point crab sandwiches, whales off Bodega Head, rock crab off the jetty (license — the public-pier exemption doesn't apply to the Doran jetty, so assume licensed). Wind is the local personality: weight the dish and the table.

💤 The honestly-rejected list: Manresa (walk-in, car can't reach the site) · Grover Hot Springs (the hot-spring pool shows CLOSED as of 8/1 — the reason to go is gone) · Pinnacles NP / Del Valle / Folsom / Coyote Lake (inland August 95–105°F = an oven for daytime outdoor work) · Yosemite (lottery + trees + full) · Calaveras Big Trees / the Peninsula redwood parks (trees = bad sky) · Half Moon Bay Francis Beach (all-open grass bluff + showers, ticks every box — except August availability is even harder than Santa Cruz; treat as Option A's northern backup, worth one click) · Anthony Chabot (the ≤1 h urban fallback: eucalyptus ridge + showers + East-Bay-everything — nothing ideal, but never full).

🗺️ The map

🧪 This afternoon's test run (only Option A makes this possible)

TimeWhat
15:00🚗 Drive to New Brighton SB (~50 min; or Sunset SB, dealer's choice). Day-use parking ~$10 (posted rate is truth)
16:00–16:45📡 Set the dish up on the bluff / dunes lot: obstruction scan → 3 speed tests → a 10-minute video call → then walk the campground and note which site numbers look open (you'll want them at booking time)
16:45📱 Open ReserveCalifornia right there in the lot: New Brighton / Sunset / (HMB Francis for luck), 6 nights from 8/2 — book on the spot when you see sites (stitching works too: 3 nights NB + 3 nights Sunset = a scenery change, not a hassle)
17:30🏠 Home → pack off the Week 1 checklist (full Starlink kit / duvet / a roll of quarters / table & chairs)
Night😴 Asleep by 21:30 — tomorrow is unhurried (check-in is 14:00)

Test disappoints? Options B/C don't need a test — their openness isn't in question, only availability and drive time.

Why this errand is worth it: 50 minutes of driving buys three certainties — ① Starlink proven on-site ② sites chosen with your own eyes ③ booked before you're even home. Tomorrow morning has zero question marks.
📍 A generic template (fits all three options). Tell me which camp won and I'll produce the specific daily version + a calendar file.

Sun 8/2 · Departure

MorningUnhurried pack-out · ice + water · 100% charge (A = no charging anxiety at all; B = Placerville/Truckee Superchargers; C = your old Petaluma station)
14:00🏕️ Check in, set camp → 📡 placement (a copy-paste of yesterday's test) → speed test + one video call
Evening🛒 Local resupply (A: Capitola/Watsonville 5–15 min; B: Tahoe City; C: Bodega town) · asleep 21:30

Mon–Fri 8/3–8/7 · The workday template

5:00Up ☕ · 5:45 link pre-check (logged in the Week 1 page's table)
6:00–14:00💻 Work (Starlink primary; the failover ladder lives on the 💻 tab there)
14:30–19:00Play (inside the 1-h circle): A = beaches/tidepools/Capitola/Santa Cruz; B = Rubicon Trail/lake swims/paddleboards; C = Bodega Head/crabbing/the spit
20:00🌇 Sunset · photos and logs · 21:30 sleep

Sat night 8/7 or 8/8 · Wrap

Check out by 12:00 on Sat 8/8. The fork after: ① home to rest ② roll straight into Week 2, the Golden Tide Week (dawn minus tides from 8/9, north coast) ③ extend in place if RC shows nights. 8/8 checkout → 8/9 drive north is a seamless handoff.

💻 The work skeleton (unchanged — details on the Week 1 page)

Starlink → phone hotspot → drive to the nearest town/café → dial in. Option A has the strongest fallback stack ever: Capitola/Santa Cruz are wall-to-wall cafés and full bars, and the 6:00–8:00 "no-café vacuum" disappears for the first time (city networks run all night). B's fallback = Tahoma/Tahoe City (15–20 min); C = Bodega town. The 5:45 pre-check + logging routine carries on.

🌫️ Option A's one technical note: coastal morning fog is thick in August. Fog barely touches Starlink (Ku-band shrugs it off; heavy rain is what matters) — but don't let the dish face get sanded up; cover it overnight.
🔥 Option B's one hard risk: August wildfire smoke. Check AirNow.gov + fire.ca.gov the morning you leave — AQI >150 or a nearby fire = switch to A/C immediately (note RC's change/cancel terms when you book).

Tap to strike through; saves in this browser.

🧪 Today (Sat 8/1)

  • ☀️ 15:00 drive to New Brighton/Sunset for the test run (🧪 tab) — or skip the test and book online directly (the sky isn't in doubt; the trip buys site-picking + certainty)
  • 🌐 ReserveCalifornia: 6 nights from 8/2 — New Brighton → Sunset → (HMB Francis); check Sugar Pine Point while you're in there (B), and Doran/Westside on the Sonoma site (C)
  • Book tonight (stitching two parks is fine) → send me the confirmation numbers for /me
  • 🎒 Pack off the Week 1 checklist: full Starlink kit · a roll of quarters (showers are 25¢/min) · duvet (55°F beach nights) · table & chairs · offline maps (barely needed for A)
  • 😴 Asleep by 21:30

🌅 Tomorrow (Sun 8/2)

  • 🔋 100% · ice · water · trash/windows/stove
  • 🚗 No rush: check-in is 14:00 (for A, leaving at 11 is plenty)
  • 📡 First act at camp: placement + speed test + a video call (Monday's meeting must not be the first test)

Verified 2026-08-01; prices always defer to checkout pages / posted signs:

[1] New Brighton SB: 111 bluff-top sites, hot showers 25¢/min, potable water/flush toilets (park materials + reviews). August-popular; weekends tight.

[2] Sunset SB: 90 sites in three loops (Dunes Camp is the open one), hot showers 25¢/min, bear lockers (park materials). Quieter than NB.

[3] Manresa Uplands: 64 walk-in tent-only sites — cars cannot reach the sites (park materials) → out for car-sleepers.

[4] Sugar Pine Point / General Creek: 175 sites, coin showers in 6 restroom buildings, mixed conifer, often full summer weekends (park + reviews).

[5] Grover Hot Springs: campground open, pool complex shows CLOSED as of 8/1 (official park status) → rejected.

[6] Doran/Westside: Sonoma County official $35–45 + $7, showers $2/5min (checked 7/31–8/1).

[7] Inland rejections: August norms of 95–105°F around Pinnacles/Del Valle/Folsom — outdoor daytime work isn't realistic (NWS climatology).

[8] State beach/park baseline: $35–45/night + RC's $8.25-tier res fee; day-use parking ~$10 — ReserveCalifornia checkout and posted signs are the truth.

[9] Fog vs Starlink: Ku-band is barely affected by fog; heavy rain is the real attenuator (Starlink FAQ / community consensus). Mountain smoke: AirNow.gov + fire.ca.gov on departure morning.

🧭 Carried over: Week 1 page (failover ladder / logs / energy ledger) · Week 2 Golden Tide Week (seamless from 8/9).
