今天多出来的时间加一个 Glen Canyon Dam(真正不一样的东西:巨型混凝土拱坝,不是又一个峡谷崖边景)。

13:15–13:45🏗️ Glen Canyon Dam
Glen Canyon Dam Overlook, Page, AZ
14:00–16:00🏊 Lone Rock Beach
Lone Rock Beach, Big Water, UT
Shell, 1501 AZ-98, Page, AZ
Horseshoe Bend, Page, AZ
20:15–21:45🌌 Sand Cave ·
Shell, 1501 AZ-98, Page, AZ
Wahweap RV & Campground, Page, AZ
已订:Wahweap Tent/No Hookup,1 晚(9/11→9/12,2 人)

Rainbow Bridge National Monument

9/11 下午现场查:没有任何公路能到(Google Maps 直接说 "Can't seem to find a way there",不是 bug)。

👉 TODAY · Day 10 · Fri 9/11 · A full day in Page (you drove ahead last night and took a hotel) · Glen Canyon Dam + a swim in Lake Powell + Horseshoe Bend + 🌌 Sand Cave Milky Way → overnight at Wahweap (booked). Her meetings are all done — zero calls left today, so nothing needs signal and the schedule runs purely on weather and light.
🔄 Route correction (9/11): last night already got Hopi Point sunset + The Abyss + Mohave Point at the Canyon — Moran/Lipan Point are the same genre of rim view, not a special trip, glance at them in passing, don't plan a stop. And the road to Page already continues east on Desert View Drive through Cameron onto US-89 north — no need to loop back to Market Plaza/the south entrance, which the earlier version of this page had wrong, backtracking for nothing. The time this frees up goes to Glen Canyon Dam instead — genuinely different (a concrete arch dam, not another canyon rim).

🗺️ Today's leg (grey = the whole JC→Bay Area run · orange = today)

⏱️ Schedule (Arizona time — third cut, morning of 9/11: already in Page, the drive is behind you)

~TimeWhere / checkpointNavNotes
Pushed through to Page last night, stayed at the Wingate by WyndhamCassie was sick and every Tusayan shower was a dead end (tokens need the office, hotels wanted $25/person), so you drove the 2h45 and took a room. Shower solved, sleep recovered. Cost: the Little Colorado gorge, Cameron brunch and the Camper Village token shower are all moot — ignore them
~11:50🏨 Check out · lunch in townBuy the water and electrolytes at the lunch stop (33 °C and you're swimming) so the grocery run costs no extra time
13:00🚗 Roll after lunch — the day starts hereToday turns from a travel day into a free day in Page with no calls at all. Just three pins in the clock: 18:00 campground store closes (= tokens), 18:39 sunset, 20:07 full dark
13:15–13:45🏗️ Glen Canyon Dam Overlook 📍 stoppable📍 Navigate
🚗 Tesla: type Glen Canyon Dam Overlook, Page, AZ
Concrete arch dam with Lake Powell behind it. The overlook sits right off the road — a few minutes, in and out
14:00–16:00🏊 Swim at Lone Rock Beach (a full two hours) 📍 stoppable📍 Navigate
🚗 Tesla: type Lone Rock Beach, Big Water, UT
34 °C, the only real swim of the trip, and the America the Beautiful pass covers entry.
Corrected on the ground: the phone's hourly shows no thunderstorm icons today (14:00/15:00 are wind, not storms), so there's no lightning to dodge. The only effect is ~11 mph afternoon gusts → blowing sand on the beach; keep cameras and food covered.
⚠️ The sand near the waterline really does need 4WD — park on the firm packed section and walk down.
Alternative: Wahweap Marina is right by the campground — kayaks $5/hr up to powerboats $75/hr, closes 17:00
17:05–17:25🔍 Daylight recon of the Sand Cave trail 📍 stoppable📍 Navigate
🚗 Tesla: type Shell, 1501 AZ-98, Page, AZ
Behind the Shell, 0.1 mi (5 min) along the barbed-wire fence to the alcove. Note the flat rock where the fence dips — then tonight isn't a hunt in the dark
17:40–18:45📸 Horseshoe Bend · through sunset 📍 stoppable📍 Navigate
🚗 Tesla: type Horseshoe Bend, Page, AZ
15 min walk from the lot, $10/car (city-run, pass doesn't cover it). Sunset is 18:39 today, so this moved to 17:45–18:45 to include sunset itself — the old 18:15 finish threw away the best light. No storms today, so nothing has to be scheduled around them
19:00–20:00🍽️ Dinner in PageHead for Sand Cave after — it isn't fully dark until 20:07
20:15–21:45🌌 Sand Cave · Milky Way 📍 stoppable📍 Navigate
🚗 Tesla: type Shell, 1501 AZ-98, Page, AZ
Tonight is locked in: the phone's hourly is clear at 19:00, 20:00, 21:00 and 22:00, and NWS agrees — mostly clear, 4% precip. Plus 9/11 is the new moon (0% illumination), one of the last good Milky Way-core nights of the year. Vegas tomorrow night is a light-pollution write-off, so tonight is the trip's one shot. The core sits low in the southwest, setting after ~23:00. Bring headlamps
check in 16:15–16:45 / back ~22:05🛏️🚿 Wahweap campground (booked) + how the shower gets solved 📍 stoppable📍 Navigate
🚗 Tesla: type Wahweap RV & Campground, Page, AZ
Booked: Wahweap Tent/No Hookup, 1 night (9/11→9/12, 2 adults)
Itinerary 80006F6CQ · reservation 86I5QA · Wahweap Marina, 100 Lakeshore Dr · (928) 645-2433, campground store 928-645-1059
Tonight is 21 °C, mostly clear, 4% precip — no hookup is plenty (no Camp Mode needed). Tent sites are Loop 1, with table, grill and fire ring.

🚿 The shower: the one job, and it's to settle the payment method in daylight
It's $2 / 15 min and the shower building is open 24 hours — what gets gated is never the hours, it's the payment medium. So the thing that must happen before 18:00 is getting tokens/coins in hand, not the shower itself — once you hold them you can rinse at 16:45, again at 22:00 after the Milky Way, or both. Sources say both "coin-operated" and "tokens sold at the store," so don't assume either until you've asked on site.
Come straight from the swim and check in at 16:15 (store closes 18:00, so 75 min of slack) — swimming first then checking in means you rinse the lake off right there
② Ask outright: "do the showers take quarters or tokens?"
Carry both — buy 3–4 tokens, and have the store break ~$10 into quarters (twenty quarters covers two showers tonight and two tomorrow with margin)

Tomorrow: roll at 09:20. Wahweap is northwest of Page, the meeting point is 5 mi east of town — ~25–30 min, and you must be there by 10:00 (20 min late forfeits the seat, no refund). Set an alarm; it's the last hard deadline of the trip.

Fallbacks no longer needed: Page Lake Powell Campground (928) 614-9146 / Lone Rock Beach, $14, never full

❌ Looked into it, can't go: Rainbow Bridge National Monument

Checked on the ground, afternoon of 9/11: no road reaches it at all — Google Maps saying "Can't seem to find a way there" is correct, not a glitch. The only practical access is the boat tour from Wahweap Marina, and that is suspended until further notice: Lake Powell's level has dropped so far that the floating courtesy dock no longer reaches the trail, leaving about a mile of walking each way. When it runs it's 07:30 departure, Tue/Wed/Sat, 6–7 hours round trip, $140–150/person.
The alternative is a 13–14 mile one-way hike in from the Navajo side, requiring a Navajo Nation backcountry permit and 2–3 days minimum.
Conclusion: nothing lost — it's closed, not merely un-schedulable. Worth asking the desk at Wahweap check-in tonight, since that's the very dock the tour sails from.
Aside: the bridge is sacred in Navajo tradition — the viewing area stops short and you may not walk underneath it.

🌤️ Weather

Day33 °C · sunny to partly cloudy, no thunderstorms (observed midday 9/11) — the 40% storm chance NWS gave this morning did not materialise; 14:00/15:00 in the hourly are just ~11 mph gusts. Sunset 18:39
Night21–26 °C · clear right through, 4% precip — the Milky Way shoot is on and camping is comfortable. No active weather alerts, no flash-flood watch
Tomorrow (Antelope Canyon)33 °C · 5% precip, flash-flood risk nil. ⚠️ One caveat: NWS says sunny but the phone's 10-day has Saturday as partly cloudy ⛅ — beams need direct sun, and cloud takes the edge off. Odds still favour you, just not the lock I implied earlier

📌 Tomorrow (Day 11 preview)

10:20–11:40 Upper Antelope Canyon (booked, #378422550) → nav Home, fastest route → PF shower passing through Vegas → sleep at the Barstow Walmart (no more campsite bookings). Sunday is just 340 mi, home mid-afternoon. Zion, Vegas and Hoover Dam all saved for next time — too tired.

No money at risk on the weather: NWS has Page sunny, 5% precip, no flash-flood watch tomorrow, so the beams get the direct sun they need. And if weather ever did force a cancellation, an operator cancellation is a 100% refund (stated in the booking terms), plus the Trip Protection you bought allows cancelling up to 3 hours before with no penalty. You must be at the meeting point by 10:00 (US-98 Milepost 302, 5 mi east of town) — 20 minutes late forfeits the seat with no refund, so the only real risk is oversleeping, not the sky.
